Kidsburg Coffeehouse
One of the benefits of our kids having a crafty mother is that we get to visit yarn shops in other cities! Our weekend was filled with lots of great adventures in America’s Historic Triangle (Yorktown, Jamestown, and Williamsburg). We got to experience a lot of United States history firsthand and paid tribute to the 400th anniversary of the first legislative body in the country!
Insights
We started our adventures with a great cup of coffee and breakfast at The Coffeehouse.
We got to experience one of our largest playground adventures yet, complete with the first zipline we’ve ever seen in a public playground!
We loved both the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown and the Jamestown Settlement. You can easily spend a day at each. Virginia residents can buy a one-year pass for the price of a day.
If your kids love ships, there are three on display at the Jamestown Settlement! There’s also a free ferry from Jamestown that runs every half hour to the other side of the James River.
Travel tip: the Jamestown Settlement and the Historic Jamestowne are actually run by two different organizations. The latter is a National Park Service site.
For a really amazing drive, take the Colonial Parkway from Jamestown to Yorktown.
